Melting and Spraying
The raw metal is melted in a furnace.
The molten metal flows into a small crucible, called a tundish. As the molten metal flows out via a hole in the bottom of the tundish, a jet of high-pressure gas or water is used to scatter the molten metal, so that it solidifies into particles. -
Classifying and Sieving
The particle size distribution of the collected powder is adjusted for the intended application using a vibration sifter or air classifier.
-
Mixing
The particle size adjusted powder is mixed in a blender to ensure uniformity.
-
Inspecting
All lots are inspected based on powder properties, alloy components, and other criteria.
